LOFRANS ATLAS WINDLASS |
Atlas horizontal windlasses offer a number of innovative features for easy installation and low maintenance.
Made in Italy, the Lofrans Atlas windlass has an anodised aluminium body, a heavy-duty rated IP66 12V electric motor and chain counter pre-setting as standard. Rope-chain management is by spring-loaded arm and there is a manual chain release.
Rated 600 watts at 60 amps, the Atlas has a maximum linear load of 700kg (lift load 350kg), retrieves line at a maximum of 69 metres per minute, and is suitable for vessels up to 40 feet (12.2m) long.
The windlass accommodates 6mm ISO, 6mm DIN 766 and 3/16” BBB chains, along with 12mm or half-inch ropes.
Lofrans Atlas horizontal windlasses are supplied with solenoids built into the case, eliminating pre-wiring for easy installation. They are also come in a white polyester coating and a three-year warranty. |

Technical supervisor at Lighthouse Marine Equipment |
Chris Dent has joined the team at Lighthouse Marine Equipment as Technical Supervisor. He takes responsibility for product support, service and customer/installation liaison for the company’s comprehensive range of premium marine products.
A qualified maintenance and diagnostics engineer with seven years’ experience aboard superyachts, Chris returned to New Zealand in 2009. Since then, he has worked as relief engineer on trans-Atlantic crossings and undertaken general on-call relief and delivery work.
“I’m looking forward to a spell of relatively ‘clean’ landbased employment and less time on the tools,” says Chris, who takes up his new position on Sept 1, 2011. He has settled in Albany where he and his wife are expecting their first child.
Chris will provide invaluable technical expertise for in-field service and warranty work, as well as installation advice and a complete support mechanism for customers nationwide.
Chris’ appointment further enhances Lighthouse Marine Equipment’s ability to support its customers and staff and reinforces the company’s commitment to its customers and the future of the marine industry in New Zealand. |

The Aqua Whisper DX watermaker monitors product water quality (salinity); displays scheduled service intervals, hours of operation and real-time flow/production rates; and comes computer interface ready.
Rugged, reliable and safe, the Aqua Whisper DX features a smooth, super-quiet stainless steel plunger pump purpose-designed for seawater reverse osmosis, a low noise manifold system, and vibration insulation mounts. A high efficiency booster pumps extends pre-filter life while a new high rejection/high yield membrane element produces higher quality fresh water in a small space. The fibreglass reinforced high-pressure membrane vessel is stronger and corrosion-proof.
